Khreschatyk Street The first stop of most visitors to Kiev is the central street, which leads to Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square).	Kievo-Pechersk Lavra Another symbol of Kiev, this monastery complex is where Orthodoxy first developed in Kievan Rus 1000 years ago.	Kiev Subway The Kiev metro connects different parts of the city and has many elegant stations like Zoloti Vorota (Golden Gate), shown here.	Obolon district Kiev is a growing city with many new residential areas, such as Obolon, shown here above the Dnipro River.
Kiev Botanical Garden In the beginning of May Kiev's numerous park areas burst into bloom, providing many unforgettable views.	Mykhailivskyy Cathedral Above Maidan Nezalezhnosti are a number of historic beautiful Orthodox churches.	St. Andrew's Cathedral Andriyivska church — now a museum — is well-known to tourists.	Andriyivskyy Uzviz ("descent") Souvenir shopping at Andriyivskyy is a favorite pasttime of visitors to Kiev.

Kiev's nature In addition to its numerous historic sites, Kiev is a city with many wild open areas that are perfect for all kinds of recreation.
