Kamyanet-Podilskyy is a charming old historic city in western Ukraine not far from Chernivtsi. It is beginning to develop as a tourist site and is an idea place to spend a day-trip at. The primary attractions are a well-preserved castle above a bend of the Smotrych River, and a large and sleepy historic center. The newer part of town is, well... nothing special.

Interior of church. Catholic churches typically have plain light interiors and pews for worshipers (as opposed to most Orthodox churches)

View of castle through fortress walls. Very medieval.
Castle. Tourists here are surprisingly few — this place has real potential. In fact, the city just received an international grant to attract investors, restore the old town, and develop tourism.
Ivy and autumn leaves. Stone wall and cobblestone road
View of cliffs. I can guess where they got stones for their stonemasonry...
This meandering stream (Smotrych river) created the horseshoe-shaped canyon that surrounds the old town
