Pictures of Feodosiya, Crimea

Feodosiya is the second largest town in eastern Crimea after Kerch. It is located at the far east end of the Crimean Mountains and is both a tourist destination (especially in the summer) and an industrial center.

Feodosiya is accessible by train from Kiev in the summer months, but there are no trains the rest of the year. However, buses run frequently from Simferopol, which has very good train connections to destinations around Kiev and western Russia.

Feodosiya has been inhabited for 2500 years and has an ancient fortress and a number of very old churches, all on the southest edge of town. I have not visited other sights in the city, but there is a famous painting gallery and a few museums. Not far from Feodosiya is Koktebel, a fashionable vacation destination.

I like this photo a lot = the best and highest quality photos (in our opinion).

Ruins of a 700-year-old fortress in Feodosiya, one of the oldest continually inhabited towns in Europe (2500 years)

Next to the fortress are a number of ancient Armenian churches. This one is now used for Orthodox services.

This church is closed and unrestored.

WWII monument next to the churches. Crimea was the scene of many bitter battles with Nazi armies.
