Bila Tserkov
|
Bila Tserkov's Aleksandria Park is a vast landscape park created in the 19th century. It is a beautiful place for a day trip. |

Bila Tserkov is a two-hour bus ride from Kiev. |

This bright red tree in the middle of the meadow attracted everyone's attention. |
Rzhyschiv

Around Rzhyschiv, a one-hour drive from Kiev, are Trypillian culture sites from the Neolithic. More on Trypillian civilization here. |

From these hills are stunning views of the Dnipro River. |

Many tour participants picked wildflowers to take home with them. |

Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy

Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy, a small town two hours downstream from Kiev, has an open-air museum with old Ukrainians "khatas" (huts). |

This is what home interiors used to look like. |

Poltava

Poltava has a beautiful, immaculate monastery complex on a hill on the outskirts of town. |

This is a typical Soviet era impersonal administrative building in the center of Poltava. |

Like most government buildings everywhere, design elements are calculated to make one feel insignificant and unsure of oneself. |
|
Sumy

Like most oblast centers in Ukraine, Sumy has at least one nice street in the center of town. The rest of town is rather nondescript. |
