Berdychiv, Ukraine Photo Gallery

Berdychiv is about 40 km south of Zhytomyr and is an important historic Ukrainian town with Jewish roots. The town has a charming old center, but the greatest sight to see is the fantastic Carmelite monastery that is currently being restored. Some day it will be a real attraction. Berdychiv itself is small (under 100 thousand inhabitants), so it's a good destination for a half-day or day trip. It is most easily reached through Zhytomyr by car or bus.

I like this photo a lot = the best and highest quality photos (in our opinion).

Fortifications

This monastery was also a fortress.

Looking in at the church, which is closed for renovation.

That looks like Mary on top of the church.

There's a catacomb or something down here (also temporarily closed).

Icicles

Ancient buses like these are becoming rarer and rarer in Ukraine.
